A Tri-State Tourism Council Driving Tour

• Beginning at the Stephenson County CVB Information Center (east of Freeport, Illinois on US Highway 20).
• Just west of the Info Center, take the Business 20 exit
• Travel 3.5 miles west on Business Hwy 20 to Douglas St.
• Turn right on Douglas St.
• Travel 3 blocks; the Lincoln-Douglas Debate Square is on your left.

• At the end of W. Douglas St. (T-Junction) turn right onto W. Adams Ave.
• Travel 7 blocks (0.4 miles) and turn right onto S. Carroll Ave.
• Travel 6 blocks (0.6 miles) and turn right into the Stephenson County Historical Museum.

• Take a right on S. Carroll Ave.
• Travel 4 blocks (0.2 miles) to T-Junction and turn right onto E. South St.
• Travel 4 more blocks (0.3 miles).
• Turn left at lights onto E Walnut Rd.
• Travel 1.8 miles to Silver Creek and Stephenson Railroad/Silvercreek Museum.

• Turn right onto N. Lamm Rd. and travel 0.4 miles
• At the stop sign/T-Junction turn left/South on Hwy 26 and travel 13.5 miles.
• Turn left onto Hwy 64.
• Travel 13.6 miles into Oregon.
• Turn right onto Hwy 2 South.
• Travel 10 miles into Grand Detour and turn into the John Deere Historic Site.

• Continue on Hwy 2 South/East.
• Travel 5.0 miles into Blackhawk Waterways area and the city of Dixon.

• Turn left at Galena Ave/Hwy 52
• Travel 7 blocks (0.4 miles) and turn right on 9 th St.
• Immediately to your right is the parking lot of the Ronald Reagan’s Boyhood Home.

• Turn left onto Galena Ave/Hwy 2.
• Travel South/West on Hwy 2.
• Travel 12.7 miles (in Sterling the road turns left, follow signs to Hwy 30)
• Travel 1.6 to Hwy 30 West.
• Travel 23.2 miles and turn right onto Hwy 136 West towards Fulton.
• Travel 2.6 miles (crossing Hwy 84) to 4 th St. and turn right.
• Travel 1.2 miles to Heritage Canyon.

• Backtrack to Hwy 84 junction and turn right.
• Travel 1.5 miles and turn right onto Hwy 30 West.
• Travel 3.3 miles into Clinton and turn right onto Hwy 67 North.
• Travel 16.5 miles and turn right onto Hwy 64 East.
• Travel 0.4 miles and turn left into the Jackson County Welcome Center.

• Turn right back onto Hwy 64 and travel West to Maquoketa.
• Travel 26.8 miles into Maquoketa, passing over Hwy 62.
• Turn right onto McKinsey Dr.
• Travel o.1 miles and turn left into the Banowetz Antique Mall & Showroom.

• Backtrack to Hwy 62 1.8 miles and turn left, North to Belleview.
• Travel 19.1 miles into Belleview and turn left onto Hwy 52.
• Travel 0.1 miles to the Belleview Area Chamber of Commerce.

• Continue on Hwy 52 North for 1.2 miles to the Harbor Motel on your right.

• Continue on Hwy 52 North for 15.7 miles.
• Turn right onto Crystal Lake Cave Rd. and proceed to the Crystal Lake Cave.

• Continue on Hwy 52 N for 2.8 miles and merge right with Hwy 151/62/52.
• Travel 2.4 miles on Hwy 151/62/52 and turn left onto Hwy 20.
• Travel 0.1 miles and turn right onto Locust St.
• Travel 3 blocks (0.1 miles) and turn right onto W. 3 rd St.
• Travel 1 block, turn left onto Main St. and the Dubuque Convention & Visitors Bureau Welcome Center is on your right.

• Continue North on Main St. for 1 block and turn left onto 4 th St.
• Travel 2 blocks (0.1 miles) to the entrance of the Fenelon Place Elevator.

• Back track and turn left onto Locust St.
• Travel 10 blocks (0.5 miles) and turn right onto Loras Blvd.
• Travel 4 blocks (0.2 miles) and turn left onto White St.
• Travel 9 blocks (0.3 miles) and turn right onto 20 th St.
• Travel 3 blocks (0.1 miles) and turn diagonally left onto Rhomberg Ave.
• Travel 18 blocks (1.4 miles) and turn left onto Shiras Ave.
• Travel 1 block and turn right on Lincoln Ave. and the Mathias Ham House is immediately on your left.

• Backtrack and turn left onto Rhomberg Ave.
• Travel 1 block (0.1 miles) and turn right onto Hawthorne.
• Travel 2 blocks (0.1 miles) and turn right onto Kerper Blvd.
• Travel 1.3 miles and turn right onto Hwy 61/151 South
• Travel 1.4 miles and turn right onto Hwy 20
• Then turn left onto Hwy 20 East crossing bridge into Illinois.
• Travel 8.8 miles and turn left onto Menominee Rd/County ZZ.
• Travel 5.3 miles and turn right at stop sign on County Z.
• Follow 0.3 miles to the Sinsinawa Mound Center parking lot.

• Turn left on County Rd Z when leaving Sinsinawa Mound Center.
• Travel 1 mile to Hwy 11 West
• Turn left and continue 4.5 miles to Hwy 61/151 North
• Travel 6.8 miles to the Hwy 61 exit
• Follow Hwy 61 for 1.4 miles through Dickeyville to the Dickeyville Grotto on the left.

• Return to Hwy 151 N.
• Travel 9.7 miles to Business 151 (exit 18) in Platteville.
• Travel 1.3 miles to Governor Dodge Hotel & Convention Center on the left and the Platteville Chamber of Commerce Information Center on the right.

• Continue on Business 151 East 0.3 miles to the traffic light.
• Turn left on Hwy 80/81 for 0.5 miles to Main St.
• Turn right on Main St.
• Travel 2 blocks to the Mining Museum & Rollo Jamison Museum.

• From the Museum, follow County Rd. B 7.2 miles past the Big “M” to The First Capital State Park.

• Turn left from the Park onto County Rd. G.
• Travel 2.5 miles to Hwy 151 W.
• Travel Hwy 151 W 10.5 miles to Hwy 80 S (exit 19).
• Travel south on Hwy 80/81 7 miles to Cuba City.

• Continue through Cuba City on Hwy 80/81 S 3 miles to Hwy 11 East.
• Turn left onto Hwy 11 E for 2 miles to the Mazzuchelli historic marker and Benton & Its Museums.

• Backtrack to Hwy 80/81.
• Turn left (south) and travel through Hazel Green to the state line and the Point of Beginnings Historic Marker.

• At the intersection of Hwy 81/84 with Hwy 20, travel 3.5 miles east into Galena.
• Turn left onto Park Ave.
• Travel 2 blocks (0.1 miles) and turn right onto Bouthillier St.
• Travel 0.1 miles to the Ulysses S. Grant Home State Historic Site.

• Backtrack and turn right onto Hwy 20.
• Travel over bridge 0.1 miles and turn onto Main St.
• Travel 5 blocks (0.3 miles) to the Old Stockade on the Cobblestone Street

• Continue on Main St. for 2 blocks (0.1 miles) and turn right onto Franklin St.
• Travel 1 block and the Old Blacksmith Shop is on your left.

• Turn right onto Commerce St. and travel 5 blocks (0.3 miles)
• Turn onto Warren St.
• Travel 1 block and turn onto Main St.
• Travel 0.2 miles and turn left onto Hwy 20 East.
• Travel 14.2 miles into Elizabeth and turn left on Apple River Rd.
• The Apple River Fort State Historic Site is on your right.

• Travel 1 block and turn left into the Chicago Great Western Railway Depot Museum.

• Travel east (right) on Hwy 20 for 21.6 miles to Highway 73.
• Turn left on Highway 73 for 1 mile toward Lena to E. Townline Rd.
• Turn right on E. Townline Rd. which turns into Cedarville Rd. for 10 miles.

• Travel 10 miles to Cedarville and the intersection of Hwy 26.
• Turn left (north) on Hwy 26.
• Travel 1 block to Cherry St.
• Turn left on Cherry St. for 3 blocks.
• Turn right on Mill St. for 2 blocks.
• Turn left on Second St. for 1 block to the Cedarville Historical Museum.

• To return to Freeport and/or Hwy 20 – the start of this tour – return to Hwy 26 and go south 5 miles.
